How Starptautiskās Izglītības Konsultanti protects communications, student guidance records, and seminar registrations in compliance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and the national privacy law of Latvia.

1. Data controller

The data controller is Starptautiskās Izglītības Konsultanti, a non-profit association (Biedrība) registered in the Republic of Latvia under Registration Number 40008091243, with its registered office at Lielais prospekts 10, Jūrmala, LV-2010, Latvia. Privacy questions may be sent to info@studyabroadconsultants.guru or by telephone to +371 20885489.

2. Personal data we process

  • Contact data submitted through our contact channels: name, email address, and the content of your message.
  • Educational guidance records: the study level, field of interest, and destination countries you choose to share so that an advisor can respond meaningfully.
  • Seminar and workshop registrations: name, email address, institution or school where relevant, and attendance records.
  • Volunteer applications: name, contact details, and the experience you voluntarily describe.
  • Technical data strictly necessary to deliver this website securely.

3. Purposes and legal bases

  • Responding to inquiries and providing non-commercial educational guidance — Article 6(1)(b) and 6(1)(f) GDPR (steps at your request; our legitimate interest in serving beneficiaries).
  • Organising and administering seminars, workshops, and integration circles — Article 6(1)(a) or 6(1)(f) GDPR.
  • Meeting statutory reporting, accounting, and grant-reporting obligations — Article 6(1)(c) GDPR.
  • Sending programme announcements where you have asked to receive them — Article 6(1)(a) GDPR, withdrawable at any time.

4. No commercial use of your data

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data. We do not pass beneficiary details to recruitment agencies, educational agents, or commercial institutions. Advisory work is non-commercial and no referral commission of any kind is received or paid.

5. Recipients and processors

Personal data may be handled by authorised board members, advisors, and volunteers bound by confidentiality, and by service providers acting strictly as processors (for example, email and website hosting). Processors act only on our documented instructions under Article 28 GDPR. Where a processor operates outside the European Economic Area, transfers rely on an adequacy decision or Standard Contractual Clauses.

6. Retention

  • General correspondence: retained up to 24 months from the last exchange.
  • Guidance records: retained up to 36 months, or deleted earlier upon request.
  • Seminar registration and attendance lists: retained for the duration of the relevant reporting or grant period.
  • Accounting and statutory documents: retained for the periods required by Latvian law.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection, as well as the right to withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior lawful processing. Requests may be sent to info@studyabroadconsultants.guru and are answered within one month.

If you believe your data has been handled unlawfully you may lodge a complaint with the Data State Inspectorate of Latvia (Datu valsts inspekcija), the national supervisory authority.

8. Security

We apply organisational and technical measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the data we hold, including access limitation on a need-to-know basis, confidentiality undertakings from volunteers and staff, encrypted transport for website traffic, and secure storage of any paper records held at our registered office.

9. Children and young people

Where a programme involves participants under 16 years of age, we work through the participating school or youth institution and rely on the consent arrangements administered by that institution or by a parent or guardian.

10. Cookies

This website uses only cookies or equivalent storage strictly necessary for its secure operation. No advertising, profiling, or third-party tracking technologies are used.
